After 25 years of live performances, Elvis Costello is shaking up his set list with the help of his fans.
Costello, who just announced a handful of U.S. tour dates this May, will be leaving his set list up to “The Spectacular Spinning Songbook.” The songbook is a game show wheel (think “Jeopardy”) that features 40 songs. Though most of the songs are Costello’s, some are hits from other artists.
The upcoming U.S. tour kicks off in Nevada, at Reno’s Grand Sierra Theatre on May 7 and runs through May 22-23 at the Beacon Theatre in New York City.
Along the way, Elvis Costello tickets will also be available for gigs at the Fox Theatre in Oakland on May 8-9; The Wiltern in Los Angeles on May 11; and the Pearl Concert Theatre in Las Vegas on May 13 before Costello heads East.
On May 15, Costello and The Imposters play the Chicago Theatre, followed by stops at the Wellmont Theatre in Montcair, N.J. on May 18; the Tower Theatre in Upper Darby, Penn. on May 19; and the Wang Theatre in Boston on May 20.

This year’s Nobel Peace Prize Concert in Oslo, Norway, will be hosted by the one and only Denzel Washington, with performances by artists Elvis Costello, Florence and the Machine, Colbie Caillat and Herbie Hancock.
“I am honored to attend the Nobel Peace Prize Concert this year and participate in this historic and momentous event to help spread the message of global peace,” said Washington, 55, in a press release. Washington’s other honors include winning Oscars for 1990‘s “Glory” and 2002‘s “Training Day.”

Last month, Elvis Costello canceled two concerts in Israel, citing concerns with the ongoing Israeli-Palestine conflict in Gaza. Now, more bands have canceled their scheduled performances, including the Pixies, the Gorillaz and the Klaxons.
“Then there are occasions when merely having your name added to a concert schedule may be interpreted as a political act that resonates more than anything that might be sung and it may be assumed that one has no mind for the suffering of the innocent,” Costello wrote on his official website. He was originally scheduled to play on June 30 and July 1.
The Pixies were scheduled to perform as part of the Pic.Nic Music Festival in Tel Aviv, and festival promoter Shuki Weiss is calling the cancelations a form of “cultural terrorism.”
“I am full of both sorrow and pain in light of the fact that our repeated attempts to present quality acts and festivals in Israel have increasingly been falling victim to what I can only describe as a form of cultural terrorism which is targeting Israel and the arts worldwide,” Weiss said in a statement.
Elvis Costello tickets to concerts in the UK, Ireland, Denmark, France, Belgium, Holland, Switzerland, Italy, Spain and Portugal are still available.
